SBC-Yahoo! Set-Top Box DVR and VOD Portal - 2006

The SBC-Yahoo! DVR and VOD Portal is an extension of SBC’s entertainment content offering consisting of set-top box and IPTV services.

The portal is a web application that makes use of advanced AJAX functionality to conduct inline multi-step operations. Through user research the team determined two main use cases for the portal; first finding and recording TV shows, which is sub-optimal on the set-top box, and secondly managing one’s movie download queue, given the set-top box has limited storage capacity. The Remote Access Portal addresses these user needs and seamlessly integrates them into the existing SBC-Yahoo! Broadband Portal.

As the Director of User Experience, my responsibility was to oversee the end-to-end design process. I defined the approach, outlined the scope and developed the project time line. I contributed to the requirements definition, use case development and formative user research. I directed the information architecture, interaction design and visual design development. I successfully conducted various SBC and Yahoo! senior stakeholder presentations and design reviews to gain product development sign-off.
